Delos Product Training Session
McKenzie Gilbert, a strategic partnership manager at First Connect, welcomed attendees to the spring product training session featuring Alex and Tony from the Delos team. Alex introduced herself as Director of Carrier and Enterprise Relationships at Delos and mentioned her background as a former insurance agent who worked with Delos. Tony joined the session to support attendees with questions and provide assistance as needed.
Delos Product Training Session
Alexandra led a training session on Delos product updates, announcing that all First Connect agent partners have been migrated to Delos proprietary homeowners programs, with new business now only written under Delos policies. She explained Delos's origins in the aerospace industry and their proprietary wildfire model, emphasizing that while they are known for wildfire coverage, they offer comprehensive home insurance options for California across both metro and rural areas. The session covered Delos's portfolio of programs including middle market and higher value home insurance, secondary home coverage, and vacant homes, with coverage ranging from $70,000 to $3 million in coverage A, all backed by Lloyd's of London carriers.
Delos Home Insurance Program Updates
Alexandra presented updates to Delos home insurance programs, highlighting increased water coverage limits, liability enhancements, and changes to trampoline coverage. She announced higher smoke damage coverage, particularly for claims reported within 90 days, and expanded roof coverage options allowing replacement cost coverage for roofs up to 25 years for asphalt composition shingles, 50 years for metal roofs, and 75 years for clay tile roofs. The company also adjusted their lookback period for claims history to five years.
Insurance Coverage and Inspection Process
Alexandra explained that zero-dollar losses will not be counted against insureds' eligibility, and loss-free discounts are available for insureds with over 3 years without losses. She outlined deductible options, including system-determined wildfire deductibles for higher-value homes, and discussed optional endorsements such as HO5 personal property coverage and extended replacement cost options. Alexandra detailed the inspection process, explaining that Delos inspects every home to verify replacement costs, construction quality, electrical panels, wildfire exposure, and overall property condition, with exterior inspections required for homes under certain value and age thresholds and interior inspections needed for higher-value or older homes.
Insurance Coverage Verification Process
Alexandra explained the process for insurance coverage verification and discussed issues with electrical panels, particularly older models like Federal Pacific Electric, Zinsco, and Challenger that have been banned. She demonstrated the system's quoting process for a high-value home in Oakland, showing how it pre-fills information and walks agents through required questions about features like electrical systems, pools, and ADUs. The demonstration included a walkthrough of coverage options, loss history, and the SL2 form required for non-admitted policies in California, concluding with payment options including credit card and mortgagee billing.
Delos Insurance Policy Updates
Alexandra addressed various questions about Delos insurance policies, including forms for secondary homes (HO forms), updating protection classes with documentation, and payment options. She explained that while current payment options are limited to paid-in-full, premium financing options are being considered for the future. Alexandra also clarified that primary homes do not need to be insured with Delos, and discussed upcoming changes to water coverage offerings, including potential increased limits for renewals starting next year.
