Mackenzie explained the steps for agents to request access to Hugo, including filling out a form and reviewing resources. Melonnie introduced the Hugo team members and outlined the agenda, which included topics such as Hugo's offerings, competition, and ideal partners. A trivia question was posed, with the first correct answer winning a $50 gift card.

Hugo: Flexible Auto Insurance Overview

Melonnie presented an overview of Hugo, a non-standard auto insurance specialist that offers flexible 6-month policies with state minimum limits and a digital-first platform. She explained that Hugo's main competition is uninsured drivers rather than traditional carriers, and highlighted their unique micropayment system that allows customers to make smaller, more manageable payments. The presentation concluded with details about the ideal agency partnership with Hugo, emphasizing the importance of serving payment-sensitive drivers in high-traffic areas.

Hugo Exchange Operations and Payment

Melonnie explained that Hugo Exchange (HEX) operates in 16 states, with First Acceptance serving as the writing company in 12 states on paper and HEX handling 4 states directly. She confirmed that non-resident Texas agents can access Hugo, and the company accepts various forms of identification except for revoked or suspended licenses. Nick demonstrated Hugo's payment model, which divides the total premium and fees over 181 days, and clarified that Hugo offers state minimum liability limits and supports TurboRater integration with Easy Links coming soon.

Hugo's Claims and Expansion Plans

The meeting focused on Hugo's claims process, pricing, and expansion plans. Nick and Melonnie discussed Hugo's claims responsiveness, with Melonnie confirming positive feedback and quick processing times. They clarified that Hugo's rates are competitive but may be slightly higher than other carriers due to the risks they work with. Nick inquired about Hugo's direct rates and commission structure, which Mackenzie confirmed to be 9% for new and renewal policies. The team also addressed Hugo's weekend availability for claims and its online FNL process. Finally, they discussed Hugo's plans to expand into 5-10 additional states by the end of the year, pending approval from state insurance departments.

Hugo Insurance Platform Overview

The Hugo team, led by Nick and Melonnie, provided an overview of their insurance product and platform to First Connect agents. They discussed the target market, which includes uninsured drivers seeking affordable, flexible payment options. Nick demonstrated the agent portal and end-to-end customer process, highlighting features like micro-payments and auto-reload. Melonnie emphasized Hugo's commitment to agent feedback and slow, controlled growth. The team addressed questions about personal URLs, state availability, vehicle restrictions, and payment options. They clarified that Hugo does not offer rideshare coverage and is not currently integrating with PL Radar. Melonnie encouraged agents to reach out with questions and offered additional training sessions every Tuesday.
