MGT Insurance BOP Product Launch

McKenzie Gilbert from First Connect welcomed attendees to the launch of MGT Insurance's BOP product in California, noting that several participants were already active in the system. Ali Essie, Head of Partnership Success at MGT, and Dan Coakley, Partner Activation Lead, introduced themselves and outlined MGT's position as the first "neo insurer," emphasizing their A- rating by AM Best and use of ISO-BOP forms. The team explained that MGT offers a more modern and intuitive insurance experience while maintaining strong financial backing and policy coverage.

Digital Insurance Process Presentation

Daniel presented a streamlined digital insurance process that provides fully bindable quotes in under 3 minutes across 45 states and Washington D.C., with 100% platform uptime in the last quarter. The company writes approximately 300 classes of business, focusing on small businesses with up to $3 million revenue and 1-100 employees, including new ventures and businesses with prior coverage gaps. Daniel confirmed that California is admitted and clarified that minimum premiums are $749, with coverage available for off-site warehouses up to 4 locations, and highlighted additional coverage options like professional liability and hired non-owned auto insurance.

MGT Business Insurance Offerings

Daniel presented MGT's business insurance offerings, highlighting coverage options like special events, hired non-owned auto, and contractor coverage. He addressed several questions about policy appetite, clarifying that mixed-use buildings, smoke shops, and table-side cooking operations are not accepted, while liquor stores are offered but not considered a specialty. Daniel demonstrated the platform's features, including the AI assistant Amy for quick appetite checks and the single sign-on process through FirstConnect, and showed how to start a quote. He emphasized that while the platform is powerful, insurance remains a complex product best sold through retail agencies rather than self-service.

Business Classification API Demonstration

Daniel demonstrated the platform's API process for classifying businesses, showing how it works with multiple data vendors to find around 3,900 data points and automatically classify businesses. He addressed several questions about California insurance requirements, confirming that there is no maximum age limit for buildings, no requirement for loss runs, and no need for fire sprinklers or specific forms. Daniel noted that while the company currently has limited appetite for LRO habitational risks, this will be expanding soon and partners will be notified of changes.

MGT Insurance Platform Demonstration

The meeting focused on demonstrating MGT's insurance quoting and binding platform, with Daniel and Ali providing a walkthrough of the system and answering agent questions. Key points covered included MGT's appetite for different business types (excluding catering, BOP food trucks in California, commercial condo associations, and LROs), their use of third-party claims administrator Davies, and their direct billing process without additional taxes or fees. The team addressed questions about coverage options including EPLI, business credit score discounts, and payment flexibility, while clarifying that while home-based businesses are eligible, mixed-use operations combining product sales with installations may not fit their single-class exposure guidelines.
