Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Overview

We've added multi-factor authentication (MFA) to protect your account, your business, and your clients. This article explains what's changed with MFA and points you to the right next steps.

What is MFA?

In the past, you’ve logged into First Connect using passwordless OTP — you enter your email or phone number and we send you a 5-digit code. Now, you sign in with:

  • Your email
  • A password you set
  • A 6-digit code from an authenticator app or text message

MFA is becoming the standard across the industry. A growing number of carriers are requiring it, and the regulatory environment is moving in the same direction.

When do you need to enroll?

        • If you already use the portal — you'll have 14 days after MFA is turned on for your agency to set up your password and second factor. You'll see a prompt when you log in. After 14 days, you'll need to complete setup before you can access the portal.
        • If you're a new primary agent signing up — you'll set up MFA during sign-up, between the E&O and Agency agreement steps.
        • If you're a new Team Member — you'll set up MFA right after creating your password at sign-up.

MFA is per person, not per agency. You and your colleagues each enroll separately, even if you work at the same agency.
