Password requirements

Your First Connect password must meet a minimum-security standard to protect your account and the data you have access to.

Requirements
  • At least 12 characters long
  • Includes at least one lowercase letter (a–z)
  • Includes at least one uppercase letter (A–Z)
  • Includes at least one number (0–9)
  • Cannot be a commonly used password
            Examples

            Password

            Accepted?

            Why

            password123

            No

            Too common; no uppercase letter

            Insurance1

            No

            Only 10 characters

            BlueHorse42Rain

            Yes

15 characters with upper, lower, and a number

            correct-Horse-Battery-9

            Yes

Long passphrase with all required character types

We block common passwords (like Password123!) because they're the first thing attackers try. If your password is rejected, choose something less predictable.

            Tips for a strong password

            • Use a passphrase — three or four random words are easier to remember and harder to crack than a short string of symbols.
            • Use a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Apple Keychain, Google Password Manager) to generate and store a unique password.
            • Don't reuse a password from another site. If that site is breached, your First Connect account is at risk too.
